OCL IN THE COMMUNITY
OCL have partnered with leading medical professionals in the fight against cancer.
Together with Essex Cancer Research we are committed to raising funds and organising fund raising events that will support clinical research for Cancer trials.
OCL Group has built a professional caring culture from within, that believes and supports the premise of giving back to those in need. it’s a culture not only perpetuated by generous contributions made by the company but by contributions made by a very large percentage of employees willing to donate their time and talents to causes that give back to the same communities we work and live in.
Every year OCL Group donates a percentage of time and profits to charitable organisations the primary being Essex Cancer Research along with our Local NHS hospital whilst also participating in charitable sporting events the passion to help those in need and associated with this runs close to all our hearts at OCL due to the loss of Tracey Cooper one of our most loved and committed employees recently at the age of 36 to cervical cancer.
We will continue to work hard for this cause at every given opportunity and hope we can assist in helping bring awareness and momentum to this cause.
ESSEX CANCER RESEARCH – AN OVERVIEW
With a population of over a million, served by busy and modern cancer departments in Essex, the county has remained without a charitable organisation that had as its sole goal, the promotion of Cancer Research.
It is with this intent that ‘Essex Cancer Research’ has been established.
With a population of over a million, served by busy and modern cancer departments in Essex, the county has remained without a charitable organisation that had as its sole goal, the promotion of Cancer Research. It is with this intent that ‘Essex Cancer Research’ has been established.
Essex Cancer Research will bring together academia, Industry and NHS hospital cancer services to expand research opportunities for cancer patients in the county.
Cancer services in this region, with state of the art facilities, have a history of robust participation in national and international clinical studies, however much needs to be done to widen opportunities and access for all.
There are well known gaps in research activity and limited access to early phase studies where all ‘standard’ and clinical trial options are exhausted. The inability to travel out of the region into central London, effectively denies access to the significant majority.
Creation of such a facility will require major infrastructural input including staffing, collaboration with teams outside of the region and partnership with industry.
